Tamu Blackwell (born July 11, 1955) made a guest appearance as Betty Clark, the new maid the Jeffersons hired after Florence announced to them that she was quitting to marry her boyfriend, Buzz Thatcher (Larry McCormick), an overly pious and religous, bible-thumping Christian man who demands that she be a stay at home wife in "Florence Meets Mr. Right" in Season 5 (episode #16).
Career[]
Tamu is perhaps best known for her role as Charlene, the teenaged daughter of Claudine, a welfare mother whom she lives with in Harlem along with and her five siblings in the 1974 movie Claudine, which starred Diahann Carroll in the title role and James Earl Jones. She also made appearances in the 70's films The Super Cops (1974) and A Piece of the Action (1977).
On TV, Tamu appeared in guest roles on numerous shows, mostly during the 1970s and the 1980s, which included Maude, Good Times, That's My Mama, Mary Tyler Moore, and an episode of Sisters in 1993 where she also served as an assistant director for numerous episodes. She also had a bit role in the 1972 film "Come Back Sweet Charleston Blue"
She has also served as an assistant director for numerous other TV/film projects, including Star Trek: Deep Space Nine starring Avery Brooks.
