Betty was a longtime friend of Florence and a maid in the Frederick Hotel on the short-lived Checking In series. The part of Betty was played by legendary R&B/blues/pop singer-songwriter and actress Ruth Brown who was also known as "Queen of R&B" for her many hit records/albums during her recording career, which was at its zenith in the 1950's and 1960's.
